Because our personal coloring changes as we mature, many women find that some of their beloved cosmetic colors they have been wearing for years, seem to no longer be working for them.
I will be posting Mary Kay cosmetic suggestions for all 12 seasons. I will do my best to post colors for light, medium, and dark skin tones.
This first one is for the True Autumn woman.
If you have been wearing colors like Downtown Brown, Gingerbread, or Toffee and find they seem a bit dark or blah, try the brighter/lighter colors below the arrow to give you a more youthful appearance.
Tip: If you want to change a lip color slightly, rather than mixing it with another lip color, just line your lips and fill them in with Spiced Tea lip liner. It also helps the lipstick last longer.
If you have been wearing blushes like the colors on the left, try the color options to the right of the arrows.
Again, because each True Autumn is unique, these color suggestions may not work on every True Autumn. Try the colors to see what works for you.
Terry, this is really interesting and I like see the visuals. I’m sure this is an impossible question, but could you suggest at what age *maybe* someone might need to consider lightening up a little? I wonder if this is a big factor in people feeling their seasons are wrong, myself included. Maybe it’s just the make-up, and this idea that’s been promoted in the past that one should be able to wear every color in their swatchbook.
Everyone ages differently, so there isn’t a magical number when cosmetics may need to be tweaked. Noticing that colors seem to be off seems to start happening with women in their mid 50’s, some in their early 60’s, and a few in their late 40’s. I do believe this is when many women think they have changed season, rather than they just need to find new cosmetic colors. Several years ago, I began to feel old and frumpy so I started coloring my hair, which didn’t really seem to help. Then I finally realized I needed to brighten my cosmetics. Felt much younger instantly and no need to color my hair…natural hair color is best anyway.
Aha! I think I’m right there. I have recently been thinking for the first time in many years that maybe I need to add some highlights to my hair. I probably need some adjustment to my make-up. I’m hoping to be re-draped by one of your students soon, and then hopefully I can have peace of mind that my season is correct and get the make-up right too.
Yes, getting in the right colors makes all the difference in the world.
This is really good. I can’t wait until you get to my season. Keep up the good work!
